The mission of Kekäläinen & Company is to promote dance as an intellectual art form with strong potential in political and poetic communication of gender. The creator of K&C is choreographer and dancer Sanna Kekäläinen. Her work expands the experience of a dance performance by combining philosophy, feminism, interculturalism and conceptual thinking with a highly original movement language. International dialogue in dance is essential to K&C. Since its founding in Helsinki in 1996, the company has toured extensively and has been called and recognized as bold, thoughtful, and outstanding in its home country and around the world.
Kekäläinen & Company resides at K&C Space at Cable Factory in Helsinki and hosts yearly Keidas-residencies to artists.
K&C collaborates extensively with contemporary writers, visual artists, composers and sound designers to create its unique and diverse approach to performing arts and environment.
