The place is located in the Umbrian hills in the heart of Italy, near Perugia. It is open to artists from various disciplines, social environments, nationalities, gender and age.

We support and accompany artists in their creative process. We offer time and space in a rural environment and give focus on the development of their artistic work and practice. Time for research, creation, reflection, experiments without the pressure of hierarchies, success and production. The encounter with the rich and diverse ecosystem of the landscape “Utopiaggia” is offered as a source for creating and being for our artist in residence. We encourage artists to share thoughts, process, and work with other artists, with the local community and with the local art scene. The residence’s long-term activities and thinking are underpinned by an ecological approach – environmental, social and physiological sustainability, responsibility and individual freedom.  We want to create an exchange between people that have diverse living realities and ways of living. And question how we actually want to live (together). Considering the environmental, technological and social challenges and crises of our time, we offer with the experience of the community and the artists, a place for exchange, participation, experiments, creating, learning and sharing.

Exchange formats (e.g. shared meals, artistic talks, showings, bar evenings) will connect the artistic team, the community of “Utopiaggia”, local audience and curators in order to frame an exchange of perspectives and disciplines.
